Kait has been an avid painter and artist for many decades. After teaming up to illustrate The Clarity Tarot deck with Debra Zachau, she was inspired to create more decks and began painting illustrations for what was to become The Flowerwise Oracle (see below). Kait began searching for a writer to team up with, and that's when she fortuitously reconnected with Leigh Podgorski. They meshed amazingly well and became the perfect illustrator/writer team - Kait with her indigenous background and love of art, and Leigh with her love of research and writing. Together, they published The Flowerwise Oracle and continued to work together to produce the Feathers of Wisdom book, with the publisher, House of Indigo.

Meet Kait Matthews and Leigh Podgorski
Kait Matthews
Artist & Illustrator
Kait Matthews is a First Nations artist and Illustrator of Ojibway and Potawatomi heritage. She is a proud member of the Chippewas of Rama, located in Ontario, Canada. She graduated from the Laguna College of Art and Design, summa cum laude with a degree in Fine Art. As well as the illustrator of Clarity Tarot Deck, she is the illustrator of Flowerwise Oracle Deck, both published by RedFeather Mind, Body, Spirit.
Kait currently resides in Northern California with her partner, her furry four-legged rescues and a small male parrot named “Pretty Girl”. Check out her website for wall art, home decor, accessories & more based on her art and illustrations.
Leigh Podgorski
Researcher and Writer
Leigh Podgorski’s stage plays have been produced in Los Angeles, New York City, and regionally. She had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross for her one-act play Windstorm, which was presented as part of the annual festival CelebrateWomen that Leigh also co-produced.
We Are Still Here, the story of Cahuilla Indian elder Katherine Siva Saubel, premiered at the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum as part of CelebrateWomen 2000. The play has been presented throughout Southern California at college campuses, universities, and Indian Reservations and Casinos. In 1999, We Are Still Here received a grant from the California Council for the Humanities for the production of a documentary of the same name. The documentary has been added to the National Museum of the American Indian, a branch of the Smithsonian Institution, and the Getty Collection.
In addition to her plays, Leigh has penned several original award-winning screenplays. Amara, originally a play, won the Women in Film and Video Screenwriting Competition. Additionally, several of her monologues have been published through Meriwether Publishing, Ltd.
Leigh's work includes Western Song, for which she received the Bronze Medal in the Reader’s Favorite Award, and the Flowerwise Oracle Deck published by RedFeather Mind, Body, Spirit.

The detailed and botanically illustrated accompanying guidebook provides fascinating facts, folklore, and histories of each of the 44 flower oracles. The deck and book are timely and remind us of the importance of preserving the beauty and healing power that can be found in our natural world
Within Gaia can be found all the nourishment one needs for mind, body, and spirit. The Flowerwise Oracle facilitates that nourishment and gently guides the user back to Earth with all her resplendent bounty.
